Identity
Everyone has their own interpretation of identity. To some people their own identity means very much as to others very little. To me, my identity is very important to me. I define identity as the the personal traits that one may carry that best describes and represents themselves. Life experiences mold someone into their true identity.
We go through life facing many situations that either change us for the better or for the worst. However these situations work out, they can change you and show you and everyone else who you truly are. I say this because if someone is faced with diversity, the way they deal with it could show a lot. If they are a strong person who can overcome anything or they are weak and turn over at the first sight of diversity. Anzaldua was faced with diversity. She was faced with people wanting to change her tongue but she didnt change. She didnt change because the way she spoke was part of her identity and separated her from everyone else. My identity is just as valuable to me as it is to Anzaldua and if I was her I would of done the same thing. “From my parents and Chicanos living in the valley, I picked up chicano texas spanish...”. This quote represents how her experience for living where she did molded her to speak the way she did. This relates to identity because the way she speaks is part of her identity.
As you can see the experiences that Anzaldua went through growing up made her speak the way she speaks which also made her who she is.
